Best time to visit the United States
We won’t go into the details of the complex, varied climate of North America. Obviously, a country the size of a continent has a multitude of different climates. We would just like to inform you of the best conditions for going to the United States.
The month of May is “cooler”. While the desert regions are already hot, with temperatures exceeding 30°C/85°F, high-altitude areas such as Bryce Canyon or the Sierra Nevada will be much cooler, and it is not uncommon for there to still be snow in early May.
From June to August, it tends to be hot! Overall, if you choose this period to visit the American Southwest, it is almost certain to be hot throughout your trip, with a fairly low risk of precipitation. That does not mean that there are never any storms, in fact they can be quite violent but never last long. Caution – the hottest areas such as the Mojave Desert or Death Valley can get up to 50°C/120°F at times, so try to adapt your itinerary to your sensitivity!
The month of September is a pleasant season, the worst of the heat has passed, but it is still sunny with temperatures around 30°C/85°F as you explore the region. The only “disadvantage” is that the sun goes down a little earlier in this season.
That is why the best time to visit this region is July and August, June and September are a possibility, but the weather is more variable. Overall, you will have to deal with a changing mountain climate. You may have a blazing sun and 35°C/95°F during your stay, but you can also run into cold snaps and more frequent weather incidents!
Winters are hot and drier. Spring and autumn are mild with a moderate amount of precipitation. Florida is therefore good from October to May. You will not necessarily run into a heat wave, but the sun should be on your side if you stick to this time of year!
Visiting the Southwest of the USA (Southern California, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico)

This region of the USA can be visited by motorcycle from the beginning of May to the end of September, a little longer by car. This region has deserts, coastal climates and mountain passes, so it is not easy to lay down any cut-and-dried rules for travelers who decide to go to the American Southwest.

This is a magnificent region, but the altitude is very high. Denver is called the Mile High City due to its altitude (1,600 m/5,280 ft = one mile!). Wyoming and Colorado have mountain passes exceeding 3,500 meters/11,500 feet.
That is why the best time to visit this region is July and August, June and September are a possibility, but the weather is more variable. The climate in the Northeast of the country is pretty much the same as in France. To improve your chances, you should stick with the months of June to September. Watch out, though, choosing the Northeast of the United States in summer is no guarantee that it will be sunny!
Visiting Route 66

The famous Route 66 crosses a multitude of states, climates and altitudes. There is always a risk of cold in the north, a risk of rain in the first half of the trip, a risk of tornadoes in Texas... It is hard to give an ideal season, but we would generally suggest August or September, although you could give June and July a try!
